Ballerina
2 years, 30 lbs
Rescued in the Southwest
Meet Ballerina (aka Squoosh), an approximately five-year-old, 30lb gem of a dog who is equal parts sweet and silly, gentle and goofy. Ballerina is the kind of easygoing companion who soaks up every pet and cuddle with pure gratitude, yet is also perfectly content to snooze nearby while you go about your day. She's calm and kind with everyone she meets adults, strangers, and kids alike warming up at her own quiet pace and rewarding patience with genuine sweetness. Perhaps most impressively, she has proven herself an absolute angel around cats, remaining completely unbothered even when her feline housemates have taken claws-out swipes directly at her face. She knows sit, comes when called, enjoys a short game of fetch, and gets the most delightful random zoomies that are wildly entertaining given how chill she is the rest of the time. She also has a fondness for stealing shoes not to chew them, but to proudly parade them to her bed like a trophy, which is honestly very hard to be mad about.
Ballerina is still building her confidence in new environments - she tends to freeze up on unfamiliar ground and may need to be carried into new spaces until she finds her footing but her progress has been remarkable, and every day she grows a little braver. She's a wonderful fit for apartment living as long as there's an elevator or a patient human willing to carry her while she adjusts, and she'll need a designated potty spot and something to keep her busy when home alone. A canine companion could help boost her confidence, but she does beautifully on her own too. She'll sleep happily in her own bed, though she'd be over the moon if invited to curl up at the foot of yours. For an affectionate, patient adopter who will delight in her quirky, silly personality and cherish a dog who is just so deeply grateful for love, Ballerina is ready to bloom.
