Meet Winston!

This adorable 1 year old, 25 pound Corgi is ready to steal hearts and find his forever family! Winston was lovingly surrendered during a period of life changes when his family could no longer provide the time, training, and attention this bright young boy needs. Hes now ready for a fresh start with an active family who is prepared to keep up with his energy and continue helping him become the best boy he can be.

Winston is friendly with everyone he meets and loves other dogs! He enjoys rough and tumble play, chasing, and showing off those classic Corgi herding instincts. Another young, playful dog would be a great bonus, although he could also be perfectly happy as an only dog with an active family.

If you love the outdoors, Winston may be your guy! Hiking, running, long walks, exploring, and adventures are right up his alley. He recently went on a hike and did great once he settled in. He is still learning leash manners and tends to pull, so continued training will be important. Winston is food motivated, smart, and eager to learn. He already knows sit and down and settles nicely in his crate both overnight and when left alone.

Like many young dogs, Winston is still a work in progress. He is doing well with house training when kept on a routine but may have an occasional accident. Hes also working on leash manners, jumping when excited, puppy mouthiness, chewing, and recall. His recall is not yet reliable, so he will need a secure fenced yard or to remain on a lead for safety.

And yes... he has some very typical Corgi opinions! He did well for his bath but strongly dislikes having his feet handled, so positive desensitization and patience with nail trims and grooming will be important. He is low to moderate in vocalization and may bark or whine occasionally but is not excessively noisy.

Underneath all that energy is an incredibly goofy, affectionate, lovable little guy. Winston has a hilarious Corgi personality that will keep you laughing, and once he settles down, he loves being near his people and curling up on the couch.

Winston needs more than a couple of short walks each day. His ideal family will provide exercise, mental stimulation, structure, continued training, and plenty of involvement in everyday life. A fenced yard and playful canine sibling would be wonderful bonuses but arent required for the right active home.
