Her foster shares: Piper first visited our fenced-in backyard last Fall and made a new friend with our dog that is nearly twice her size. She was pleasantly surprised to find out there were a number of tiny furry companions inside for her to play with too. The first thing Piper does every morning, and the last thing she does at night, is check on her bunny buddies to see if they left any fresh treats within tongues reach. Whether large or small, Piper gets excited to see other animals. Sometimes she gets a little too excited and can morph into a kangaroo. Triggering events include breakfast, dinner, dog treats, bananas, and her favorite water cookies (ice cubes).
Piper enjoys meeting new people as well but needs a minute to settle down. Her
emphatic hello can be loud, but she is not aggressive. The great news is you no longer need a camera or app to know when you have a visitor or a package is delivered. You will also not need help knowing when it is time for Piper to go outside, eat, or go to bed, which is currently 10 pm. She has a not so subtle but adorable way of expressing her desires.
A day in the life of Piper involves a lot of napping in various areas, such as dog beds, floor mats, couches, beds, or random spots on the floor near her favorite human. Nap breaks are often filled with toys that may or may not have stuffing left inside. Destruction is limited to designated dog toys as Piper doesnt try to take or damage anything else.
She does enjoy going outside for fresh air, although she often quickly returns for a treat. With the nice weather, we have taken her on a number of trail walks that could always be longer but are typically limited by the stamina of our big boy. Piper is always eager to hop in the car for a ride and is very good at pet-friendly stores, especially her utopia known as Lowes.
When Piper wakes up from her evening nap, she goes through her evening routine that usually ends with curling up in bed on top of her foster Dads feet, which was more welcomed during the winter. Piper will sleep through the night and does not discriminate on location. While the big bed is her preferred spot, she occasionally falls asleep elsewhere in the bedroom. Whether it is on a dog bed, sprawled over the carpeted floor, or in her cage, Piper goes down hard until the sun is up and someone leaves the room.
If you are looking for a dog who will always be happy to see you, can nap with the best of them yet has the energy to play when the moment is right, and will make you smile on a daily basis, then inquire more about meeting Piper.
Meet Piper Parker - a beautiful, 4 year old, Coonhound mix, who weighs 40 pounds (as of 4/1/25). Piper Parker was previously living with a loving family who loves her dearly. Piper Parker is a velcro pup who prefers to be with you 24/7 which was tough when her previous family brought home a baby. They didn't feel they were able to give sweet Piper Parker the love and attention that she deserves (and craves) and know that the perfect family is out there waiting for her!
She's house broken, crate trained (sleeps in her crate at night), and knows basic commands. She can be a bit anxious in new settings and when meeting strangers, but quickly settles in with treats and time. She does great with other dogs at home. She'd do best in a kid-free home so she can be your main focus. She is submissive, and would do well with a resident pup who is calm and can help build her confidence. She's also fine with cats!
Piper Parker is a great gal who is looking to start her next chapter with a new loving family!
Medical Disclosure: Piper is on multiple medications to help with her anxiety and eats Natural Balance limited ingredient salmon kibble and Natural Balance limited ingredient salmon biscuits. Piper has Masticatory Muscle Myositis which is managed with Prednisolone.
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
