Meet Hugo Spritz, the most distinguished 14 year old Cocker Spaniel gentleman.

Hugo came to us from the shelter, after he was dropped off there by his owner. He was pretty thoroughly matted and came in with some large hot spots (allergy-related). But one quick trip to the vet with a bath, and Hugo was a brand new boy!

While he may be 14, he has all the spunk and silliness of a young buck. You would think he was closer to 7 or 8!

Hugo is a friend to all - he is lovely with people, dogs and cats. With people, he enjoys a snuggle, playing with toys, and going for walks. He can be a little shy with new people, but warms up quickly with baby talk. Then his little nub starts going a mile a minute! With dogs, he matches the energy of the room. He would be best as an only dog or with a submissive dog, as he does have an alpha personality. With cats, he is very curious but respectful.

Hugo is a laid back, go with the flow guy. He can laze about all day, nibbling on his favorite toy, jump in the car for errands with you, or head out on a new adventure. He very much enjoys his walks, but doesn't need more than 45 mins per day. But boy oh boy, this dog is full of vim and vigor on walks! He would probably be a great jogging buddy. He does still pull on leash, so his adopter should be prepared to work on this with him. While he's only 30lbs, he does pull like he's on the Iditarod team.

Hugo is very treat motivated and loves to learn. He has learned "sit" and he is currently learning "drop it". An adopter who is eager to work with him to keep his mind engaged is required.

He is potty trained and crate trained, and has shown that he is great free roam. He does not have any destructive tendencies, other than scratching at the door a few times while you're gone.

Hugo does not like when his toys are taken from him while he is actively playing with them, so a home without small kids is required. Hugo's ideal home would be one that has a medium activity level and wants to include a dog in their day to day activities.

*PLEASE NOTE: all of our dogs are fostered in Houston, TX, where our rescue is based. However, we work with trusted transport partners to transport our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Additionally, adopters are always encouraged to come to Houston to pick up the pup and bring them home. Once an adoption is confirmed, our team will work with you to determine the best transport schedule.
