PLEASE READ THE ANIMAL'S PROFILE AND ALL NOTES BELOW BEFORE APPLYING!

Hi, I'm Casper!

I'm a 3-year-old long-haired Chihuahua with a fluffy little face, a big personality, and an even BIGGER heart for the people I love! I may be small, but when I find my special person, I love them with everything I've got!

Now, I should probably tell you something about myself right away... I'm not the kind of dog who falls in love with everyone the moment we meet. I'm a little more selective than that!

Meeting new people can make me nervous, and sometimes I need extra time and space to figure out whether someone is safe. I can be skittish, protective, and a little feisty when I'm uncomfortable, so I'm looking for someone who understands that trust takes time.

But once you've earned my trust? Oh, you're in for something special!

I become the sweetest little companion who wants nothing more than to be close to my favorite human. I LOVE snuggling, giving kisses, and curling up right beside you. My absolute favorite thing in the world is burrowing underneath a cozy blanket and getting comfortable next to my person. If you're looking for a professional blanket buddy, I have plenty of experience!

I also have a playful side! Once I'm feeling comfortable and secure, my personality really starts to shine. I'm a loyal little guy with plenty of confidence and just enough Chihuahua attitude to keep life interesting!

One thing you should know is that I can get protective of my favorite person, especially around other dogs. Sharing my human isn't really my thing, so I'd be happiest as the only dog in my forever home. I also need a home without children, since too much activity and excitement can overwhelm me.

My ideal family would be a single person or a couple who enjoys a quieter lifestyle. I don't need a huge house or a busy schedule. An apartment, townhome, or house could all work for me! What matters most is having a peaceful environment where I can feel safe, relax, and build a strong bond with my people.

Now, about my training... I have to admit, I'm a bit stubborn!

I'm not particularly interested in learning commands right now, and potty training is still a BIG work in progress. I haven't quite gotten the hang of going outside consistently or using pee pads, so my future family will need to be very patient and committed to helping me develop better habits.

The good news is that I'm not destructive around the house! I just need some extra guidance with my bathroom routine and a family willing to work with me at my own pace.

I'm not going to pretend I'm the easiest little dog in the world, but I do have something incredibly special to offer: once I choose you as my person, you'll have a fiercely loyal, affectionate companion who loves you BIG.

My ideal home:

A single person or couple who enjoys a peaceful home
An adult-only household with no children
No other dogs, so I can feel comfortable and secure
Someone patient who understands nervous and protective dogs
A family committed to continuing my potty training
A calm environment where I can build trust at my own pace
Plenty of cozy blankets, snuggles, and one-on-one attention

A word from my foster:

"Casper is a loyal little guy who loves BIG once he finds his person. He can be nervous when meeting new people, so he needs someone patient who will let him warm up at his own pace. But once you're in his inner circle, get ready for all the snuggles and kisses! His favorite place is burrowed under a cozy blanket right next to his person. He can be protective around other dogs, and potty training is still a challenge, so he really needs someone who understands his boundaries and is willing to keep working with him."

I know I come with a few quirks, and I might need a little more patience than some other dogs. But I promise there's a whole lot of love underneath this fluffy little exterior.

I'm not looking for a house full of people or a busy social calendar. I'm looking for my person. Someone who will give me the time I need, respect my boundaries, and love me for exactly who I am while helping me grow.

If you've got a quiet home, a cozy blanket, and room in your heart for a tiny, fiercely loyal best friend... maybe I'm your Casper!

Casper is Heartworm Positive!
