# Meet Clementina!
At just 3.9 pounds, Clementina may be tiny, but she has a whole lot of love to give! This six-year-old Chihuahua is a devoted little lap dog who wants nothing more than to be close to her favorite people. She loves being held, soaking up pets, and rubbing all over the people and dogs she adores. Once she feels comfortable with you, expect plenty of affection and a little shadow who wants to be involved in whatever you're doing. She even loves burrowing under blankets and wearing cozy sweaters, so if you enjoy having a tiny companion bundled up beside you, Clementina might be your girl!
Clementina has a playful, expressive personality, too. She loves squeaky toys, especially her beloved Lamb Chop, and is happy to get excited about seeing her favorite friends. She may greet new people with some barking before warming up, and when she's feeling especially happy, she might celebrate with a play bow, a few happy jumps, or a case of the zoomies. She's also a great little passenger in the car, especially when she has a small, cozy bed or doggy backpack to settle into. Clementina enjoys getting out and about, though she may occasionally decide that a short walk is quite enough adventure for one day. And when it's time for a treat, bones, dental chews, and a little cream cheese are sure to catch her attention!
Clementina is looking for a person who loves having a companion close by and can include her in daily life. She forms strong attachments and experiences separation anxiety, which means she may cry or bark when left alone. She'll need a family prepared to help her gradually build confidence with alone time and provide plenty of reassurance as she settles in. She has successfully lived with a larger dog and has met cats, and she may enjoy a compatible animal companion who respects her space and play style. She can be selective about her canine friends, so introductions should be thoughtful and supervised. Clementina is not a fan of young children, but she may do well with respectful older kids around age 10 and up.
Because Clementina is so small and can be fearful of certain types of handling, she will also need a patient family who respects her boundaries. While she loves being held for cuddles, veterinary exams and procedures can be stressful for her, and she may react defensively when frightened. She needs a veterinary chill protocol to help make appointments more comfortable, and she'll benefit from gradual, positive practice with nail trims. Her dental appointment is scheduled for October 26, and her lepto booster is scheduled for November 4, so these should be confirmed as completed before adoption. She'll also benefit from ongoing home dental care, and her daily routine includes measured meals to maintain a healthy weight.
