Hi, my name is Carmel.
I never imagined that as a senior girl I would end up on the euthanasia list because of my medical condition. Thankfully, Desert Paws Sanctuary saw that my life was worth saving and gave me the chance I had been hoping for.
Since my rescue, I've had the full medical workup to make sure I'm healthy. I had bloodwork, a SNAP test, a dental cleaning, and a thorough examination. My SNAP test came back positive for Ehrlichia, so I'm currently receiving treatment. I also have a tumor that will be removed soon, and the best news of all is that it appears to be benign!
Even though I'm considered a senior, I still have plenty of life left to live. I'm playful, gentle, and I get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. I love being around my furry friends and enjoy every bit of attention and affection I can get.
I know senior dogs are often overlooked, and I worry that my age might make it harder to find a family. But I hope someone will look past the number and see my heart. I'm healthy, full of love, and ready to spend my golden years being someone's loyal companion.
A very special thank you to our amazing supporter, Lauren, whose generosity made all of my medical care possible. Because of her kindness, I have a second chance at the life I've always deserved.
