Meet Petra!

Petra is a tiny 10-month-old Chihuahua weighing just 5 pounds, and she is as sweet as can be!

Petra is a friendly little girl, but she can be very shy when first meeting new people. She needs a little time and patience to learn that she is safe and can trust you. Once she begins to feel comfortable, you'll start to see the sweet girl hiding behind those initial nerves.

Petra may benefit from having another friendly, confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes and build her confidence, but another dog is not a requirement for her. A patient family willing to let Petra adjust at her own pace will be just as important.

She does well in a crate, but she is not yet house trained, so her new family will need to continue working with her on potty training and establishing a consistent routine.

Petra is still very young and has so much ahead of her. With a little patience, love, and encouragement, we think this tiny girl will blossom into a wonderful companion.

If you are interested in adopting Petra, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.

**Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
