Chihuahua and Rat Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

Simba is a small but big-hearted companion who's ready to find his person. At around 4 to 5 years old and just 13 pounds, this Chihuahua and Rat Terrier mix is the perfect size for lap cuddles and everyday adventures. He is potty trained and does well on a leash and in the car, making him an easy addition to a home. Simba is friendly with people and enjoys the company of other small dogs, though he's also happy as the only dog in the home as long as he gets plenty of attention and playtime.

He has a playful, affectionate personality with a funny side too. Simba loves his toys, enjoys being close, and has a moderate energy level that fits well with many lifestyles. He can be a little vocal at times, especially when playing, and his sleeping habits are guaranteed to make you smile, from his silly positions to his little snores. Because of his small size, care should be taken around larger dogs during play. If you're looking for a gentle, loving dog who will keep you entertained and always want to be by your side, Simba could be the perfect match.

Simba is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/16/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
