Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese Dogs Available for Adoption

Wendy is a fun-loving pup, incredibly smart, playful, and full of personality. She adores toys, is an active gal, and thrives when she gets plenty of walks, runs, and playtime. Wendy is the kind of dog who will happily match your energy, whether that's an adventure outside or a fun game in the yard.
She loves kids and is very affectionate with her people. In fact, she's such a lover that she'll known to jump up (she can clear 3+ feet!) just to deliver kisses. Because of her enthusiasm, she'll do best with a family who can help guide her manners while still embracing her playful side.
Wendy is also very smart and eager to bond, which will make training both rewarding and fun. With consistency, structure, and plenty of positive reinforcement, she's going to shine.
She does have some preferences when it comes to dogs, and she may need a little time adjusting in homes with large, playful dogs: with proper introductions, she can settle in well.
Wendy was found abandoned in a Texas bayou, covered in mats, fleas, and cuts. Despite that rough start, she has bounced back with a resilience that is truly inspiring. She's proof of how much love and care can transform a life.
Wendy is not a fan of being crated for long periods, and may do best in a home where she gets plenty of exercise, enrichment, and freedom to be part of the action throughout the day.

Wendy is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/1/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
