DESCRIPTION
Tajin is an 8-month-old, 6.5 pound Chihuahua mix who is still learning that the world is a safe and loving place. As the oldest of the group, he’s also the most timid and will need a patient adopter who can give him the time and space he needs to build confidence at his own pace. Once he feels secure, his sweet nature really shines through. His foster mom is able to pick him up and give him kisses, but he's not quite ready to approach her on his own for love.
Tajin would do best in a quieter home where he can settle in without too much hustle and bustle. While he hasn’t been exposed to young children, we believe an adult-only home or one with teenagers would suit him best. He would truly benefit from having a confident canine companion his size to help show him the ropes, or he could be adopted with one of his siblings.
Because he is still nervous on leash and can be easily startled, a securely fenced yard will be important to help keep him safe while he continues to gain confidence.
If you'd like to give Tajin the loving home he deserves, apply today! His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.

ABOUT: CHIHUAHUA DOG BREED
The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
