Meet Benji, a 16-year-old Shih Tzu mix who weighs about 13 pounds and is equal parts gentle soul and devoted sidekick. He’s a friendly, outgoing, and adaptable little guy who finds his greatest joy in being close to his person. Whether he’s following you from room to room, curling up beside you for a nap, or soaking up all the pets you’re willing to give, Benji is happiest when he’s near his people. He enjoys short walks and spending time outside, though he prefers to keep things brief when the weather is too hot or too cold. He does well in his crate but has also earned the privilege of sleeping loose in the home. Benji does wear a belly band to help prevent marking indoors. He has done well with everyone he’s met, though he hasn’t been around children in our care. Benji also enjoys car rides and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, low-key buddy.

Benji shares a special bond with his brother, Clark, and the two are looking for a home where they can stay together. Their connection is heartwarming, and they truly thrive with each other by their side. Benji brings a calm, cuddly presence, while Clark adds a bit of playful energy to the mix. Their combined adoption fee is $300, plus a $15 rabies transfer fee for McLean County residents.

His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
