**Please read Bailey Spirits' entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!**

Meet Bailey Spirits, a 5 month-old (as of 4/21) Carolina Dog/Anatolian Shepherd mix, weighing 32 pounds (as of 4/21/26)! Bailey is aptly named because he hails from our SPIRITS litter and was born in Tennessee to nice, mellow medium-to-large breed dogs. While the owner is keeping Momma, Bailey hopes to find a family that could use a little more sweetness in their cocktails, er, he means home!

Bailey Spirits is your summer fun companion! He is thrilled the weather is nice now because he discovered he absolutely loves swimming! If you are looking for a puppy that wants to hike in the woods and take a jump in the lake after, he's your boy! He absolutely loves the water and will lay right down in it if given the chance.

It's hard to believe when Bailey first came to MA, he was nervous about putting on a leash and going outside because he loves it so much now. When he sees you grab a leash or put on a coat, he gets a huge smile, a wiggle-butt tail wag, and literally jumps for joy! He is still working on his leash walking skills as he can sometimes be a bit zig-zaggy in his excitement. He wants to sniff everything because there is a lot to explore and he's here for it!

Bailey is completely crate-trained and has never had an accident in his crate. He sleeps great through the night and is quiet and patient even if you want to sleep in on the weekends. If you say 'go to bed', he will run right into his crate and settle in. Such a good boy! He is 99% potty-trained and if he can't get your attention to go outside, he'll use a pee pad. (Does that count for 100%?) He is quickly mastering 'sit' and is working on other basic commands. He'll be looking for an adopter that will continue his puppy training but is very smart and also highly treat-motivated so I'm certain he'll do great learning all his dog skills.

Bailey is a very sweet calm puppy. He can get a little nervous sometimes and is looking for a nice quiet household. Children are ok if they are respectful and old enough to understand he might need to take things a little slow. He's not a fan of loud noise or chaos. He's definitely a country boy, not a city boy, as lots of cars or crowds are not his thing. He needs to feel safe and secure but once he does, he'll open his whole heart to you. Bailey's ideal home would have a dog companion to learn the ropes from and build some confidence with. He loves to be with the other dogs in his foster home and will literally take his cues from them. Monkey see, monkey do! He is not yet cat-tested but quickly got used to the huge iguana and goats at his foster home.

Bailey is a great snuggler and will happily curl up on the couch with you after a long day. He's very gentle and is not a wild crazy puppy. He bonds tightly with his person/people and will be content to follow you room to room and just lay at your feet. He just wants to be near you! He does love his toys though and will have bursts of fun playfulness. He can be really funny and silly! So, if you are looking for an adorable companion, perhaps a sweet little brother for your other dog, and/or a lifelong hiking and swimming buddy, Bailey is your guy!

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
