OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found.

This dog is currently located in: Texas

Marty’s story began on a lonely patch of concrete in front of a gas pump. He was lying there, refusing to move, his little body heavy with exhaustion and defeat. His eyes were terribly infected — swollen, crusted shut, and painful. When his foster returned hours later after work, Marty was still in the exact same spot… as though he had simply run out of hope.

Bringing Marty home didn’t magically fix everything. The sadness followed him. For more than a month, he lived in survival mode — cautious, withdrawn, and stuck in the constant cycle of fight or flight. Trust didn’t come easily for a dog who had clearly been let down.

But healing has a beautiful way of happening slowly.

Little by little, Marty started realizing he was safe. The walls began to come down. His personality peeked through… and what emerged was pure gold.

Today, Marty is living his best life as a self-appointed boujee prince  — and honestly, he’s earned every bit of it.

He shares his home with 7 dogs, a cat, and even pigs, and gets along wonderfully with everyone. He’s gentle, social, and never meets a stranger. Kids? He adores them. Car rides? Count him in. Vet visits? No problem! Marty simply enjoys being included in life.

And if you’re looking for a low-maintenance best friend, Marty may just be your perfect match.

This boy is a professional napper. While the rest of the household is rushing through busy mornings, Marty is often still cozied up in dreamland, snoozing peacefully through school chaos and barking dogs alike. Around 9 or 10 a.m., His Highness finally awakens, ready for his potty break, a snack, and perhaps… another nap.

Did we mention he really loves naps?

By afternoon, Marty’s playful side comes out. He enjoys toys, balls, treats, and some fun with his furry friends before settling back into his comfy routine. He “talks” when he needs to go outside, using adorable screams, whines, and dramatic little conversations to make his needs known.

He’s a sensitive soul — a little stubborn at times, a little goofy, and just a touch of a sissy according to his foster — but that’s part of what makes him so lovable. He bonds deeply with his people, stays close to home, and is happiest simply being near those he loves.

Marty doesn’t need extravagance. He just needs what every dog deserves: kindness, security, soft places to nap, tasty treats, and a family who will cherish the sweet boy hiding behind those soulful eyes.

After everything he’s been through, watching Marty transform from a dog who had given up… into one who feels safe enough to play, rest, trust, and love again is nothing short of beautiful.
