Meet Gracie — A Shy Girl With the Biggest Smile

Gracie is the kind of dog who reminds you just how beautiful it is to watch a scared dog learn that the world can be a safe and happy place.

Gracie was rescued from a Texas shelter just in time to save her from euthanasia. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was extremely shut down and incredibly scared. She had a long way to go before she could trust that people were there to love her.

But after months and months of patience, love, care, and gentle training, Gracie is slowly discovering her confidence — and what a wonderful girl she is underneath that shy exterior.

She can still be timid at times, especially in new situations, but when Gracie feels safe, her personality truly shines. He foster mom says shes a happy, silly, smiling pup who absolutely adores her people.

And once Gracie comes out of her shell, you discover just how funny she is. She has the sweetest grin, an always-wagging tail, and the most adorable little butt wiggles. When she’s especially excited to see you, she will literally spin in circles with happiness. This is one of her favorite morning rituals — every morning when we let her out of her crate, Gracie greets us with her signature happy spin and a smiley grin!

Gracie loves her humans deeply. She tends to bond closely with one or two people, and once you are her person, she becomes your little shadow. She wants to be wherever you are — following you around the house, lounging nearby, or cuddling right beside you. Her happiest place is simply being next to the humans who have chosen her.

She also loves to play! Gracie enjoys other dogs and actually gains confidence when she has a friendly dog companion around. She loves saying hello to other dogs, playing with her dog friends, and would be a wonderful companion for another gentle, playful, confident dog who can help show her the ropes.

Gracie also loves babies and kids and currently lives happily with three cats, so she is very comfortable sharing her home with feline friends and a few rambunctious toddlers .

She is wonderfully easy to live with. Gracie doesn’t bark, enjoys relaxing in her crate, and considers her crate a safe and comforting space. She loves going for walks and is honestly the best little walking companion. She never pulls, constantly checks in with her person, and naturally follows your pace. She seems to genuinely enjoy simply being out with her human.

A yard would be a wonderful bonus for Gracie because she loves basking outside, relaxing in the yard, and soaking up the sunshine. But more than anything, what she really needs is a person or family who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her blossom at her own pace.

Gracie is looking for someone who will be patient with her, continue building her confidence, and give her the love, reassurance, and attention she deserves. She may not be the dog who runs up to a stranger and immediately asks for attention — but if you give her time, she will give you something incredibly special: her trust, her loyalty, and her whole heart.

She would be happiest in a quieter home with patient, understanding humans who will celebrate her little victories and never rush her. If you’re looking for a dog who will follow you around the house, curl up beside you, greet you every morning with a silly spin, and slowly become your very best friend, Gracie may be your girl.
