Darling little Skylar with those soulful eyes! She is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs about 27 pounds right now, but we are slowly trying to have her put on a little more weight.
Meet Skylar, such a cute little thing with the sweetest brown eyes. She had a rough start in life and arrived at the rescue so very skinny at only 23 pounds, with telltale signs of a difficult past. She had a lot of bite marks on her face and an injured foot. One of our wonderful volunteers took her right home to foster and help her put on a little weight and to also give her lots of love of course! Skylar is back at the rescue and ready to find her forever family who will love and care for her like she deserves.
Skylar may come across as a little shy at first, but once she feels secure and loved, her true colors shine through. She is connecting and affectionate once she trusts you and even got the zoomies in her foster home which was amazing! Her adopter should have experience with fearful dogs and understand the importance of leadership. Skylar's new family will also need to have the time and patience to work on building trust and providing positive socialization. She naturally looks to her person for reassurance and direction, and she will need guidance when she is feeling unsure or fearful. Skylar will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with her shy nature.
She finds great comfort and confidence in the company of other dogs, and their presence helps her open up and show her true self. Skylar definitely needs another dog in the home to rely on to learn to trust and open up to humans. She has made a best friend at K9, Finnigan, who is in the video with her, and it is a wonderful sight to see them together. Could you be the one to help this incredible girl write a brighter future? Skylar would love it if you came to meet her.
If you are interested in Skylar and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend!
*Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
