Raven (VA) - Black And Tan Coonhound Dog for Adoption

Meet Raven, an estimated 3-year-old Black and Tan Coonhound being fostered in Virginia. Found as a stray in Central Virginia, Raven weighs around 50 pounds and is slightly underweight but working on putting on a few more pounds.

Raven can be shy and wary of strangers at first, but once she realizes you’re safe, she quickly warms up and is all about the attention. She is very playful with the other hounds in her foster home. She has not yet been tested with small dogs or cats.

Raven is still getting used to some of the sights and sounds of life in a home. Strange noises—including the very suspicious squeak of a squeaky toy—are new to her, and loud noises can startle her. She is gaining confidence as she settles in and learns that these unfamiliar things aren’t so scary.

Raven is crate trained, working on her house training, and easy to walk on a leash. She’s a sweet, playful hound who may need a little time and patience with new people and experiences, but once she feels safe, her affectionate personality comes right out.

The Black and Tan Coonhound is a versatile and diligent hunting dog known for its distinctive black and tan coat. These medium to large sized hounds are renowned for their exceptional tracking abilities, particularly when hunting raccoons.
