Let us introduce Rip!
Rip is a 3.5 year old Bernese Mountain Dog that is being re-homed because his family does not have time for him anymore and is moving. Rip is the most loving dog! He loves belly rubs, kids, and other dogs. He is housetrained and also gets along well with cats. He also loves going on adventures, especially to the beach!
As typical with the breed, Rip has a sensitive stomach so cannot eat human food or he gets digestive issues.
Rip's perfect home would have a large yard (he prefers to poop when not on leash), a family that is home with him a lot of the day (he is a total cuddle bug), and someone who knows the breed well.
Applicants who have never had a Berner before should be prepared for the financial burden of owning a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog, and it will be discussed as part of any interview. Bernese Mountain Dogs are known as being one of the most expensive dog breeds. Because of their size, Bernese Mountain Dogs require bigger of everything. Their heartworm/flea/tick preventative costs approximately $500 a year, their annual exam/shots/bloodwork will cost about $250 a year, and the breed requires a yearly tooth cleaning which can cost $1,000+. Therefore, at a minimum, adopters should anticipate $2,000 a year in medical costs in addition to food, toys, etc.
We are expecting a large number of applicants for Rip, and will stop taking applications after we receive 10 applications. Keep in mind- a background check will be done on all members of the household, we will be doing a home check, and we will be requiring copies of documentation (such as leases and proof current animals in the household are up to date on everything).
If you are interested in Rip, you can apply for him at www.mysaltydog.com. He will come to you microchipped, up to date on vaccines, fixed, and he will have his teeth recently cleaned.
