Say hello to Foxy! This very pretty, on the petite side, 2.5 yr old lady was surrendered to the shelter with Black Jack, a young male who is also up for adoption. Foxy was very timid, unsure, and it took some time to build trust, and let her now that she can feel safe with the volunteers who were giving her a chance to figure out where she was. From what we understand, she spent many hours outside, and most likely was a bit under socialized for this breed.
Foxy might take a minute or two to warm up to a new person when she meets them, but once she does, she is eager to get attention and eager to get some treats. She will need some consistent work on building confidence and, keeping up on her socialization skills. Foxy does now sit, and looks for either a reward of a treat, or a good ole pets of praise. At this time, she has not shown any drive, or need to play with a ball/toy but that could change once settled into a new home environment. She walks well on leash but could use some extra work as she develops a bond with her new person. It stated she is crate trained, which will be good to allow her to have her own space, and to keep up on other training.
This gal was so confused about the change in her environment but will make a great companion with a person who will give her time to settle in, have some patience, and allow her to flourish. It is preferred that an adopter have knowledge/experience with this breed or with Shepherds.
