DESCRIPTION

Ready to save a Ridglan Beagle? Well, here you go! But you must know ... these dogs are not for someone who just wants to love and save them. While that is admirable and very much needed for so many rescue dogs out there for adoption, there are specific needs and musts ... for very real and important reasons. And he deserves these to be met. Because he needs them.

‍ Ridglan Beagles are beyond a mill dog. But they do love! They do know love now and they love to be loved and give love back. IF you can meet these requirements, we know they are a tall order, you could be his savior!

MEET ATLASS FREEGLE!

‍ With sincere anxiety, it's time. We need to find his furever home. And it's not easy for me to do this. He needs so much time and patience, and unwavering love. He is everything you'd want in a new furry family member. And some things you may not. I will not sugar coat it.

He's the sweetest darling. He has lots of love to give and he shares it with his people. And it is oh, so worth everything to see the love in his eyes and feel him curl up to us. To know where he came from, and now he's here and enjoying life. Even if he's afraid of a lot yet. We're working on things.
MUST have a quieter home. He's afraid of new sounds, terrified of new people and cannot be introduced to new people the first couple of weeks. And even then, VERY slowly and carefully. Every new sight, sound, and smell intrigues him and scares him. Some things more than others, for either reaction.
MUST ... He's a young guy who needs extra time for housebreaking, a lot of extra time. And this cannot start for a couple or few weeks in your home. Absolutely not the first week. So, you must be ready for some messes.
He cannot be crated. Many of the Ridglan dogs have serious PTSD and will hurt themselves to get out. He is one of them. He cannot be confined, period.
‍ MUST be ready for sleepless nights. There's a new baby in the house. He gets nightly frenzies where he needs to hide his toys outside and gets the zoomies. It's not so much cute as it is sad. Many Ridglan dogs are up all night and are still learning our schedules. He is doing much better at night. If he gets plenty of exercise during the day and isn't allowed to sleep all day, he does sleep through the night, most nights.
MUST have another dog to teach him to trust you and learn what is what around the house. Another dog also teaches him how to be a dog: where to potty, how to play with toys, where they eat, and so much more. They also help him expel all that energy he has, and it will come out with another dog.
MUST have a fenced yard. He's a huge flight risk. He cannot be walked in public or around strangers. It will be a while for this. A LONG while. He is not a show dog. He's a dog in recovery, healing. He has serious PTSD. Another dog will help with this too.
MUST understand the Rule of 3 is now the Rule of ? After 3 weeks with us and loving us and another dog to teach him, he still runs from us when we walk in the door, at times, until he realizes it's really us. He's definitely getting better and better and it's not always.
NEEDS someone who is home the whole first week and gone only very minimally after. He is good in the home, but he searches for you. Watching out the window for you the whole time, and periodic cries the longer you're gone. And this first week is a critical bonding time. These Ridglan dogs are clingy and he needs you.

Are you his savior? Ready for a challenge? Ready for the biggest reward? Oh, you can have all of that with this darling.

Are you ready to save a Ridglan Beagle?

PLEASE know this is not everything but part of what is to be expected. Do not apply if you are gone all day, don't have another dog he can learn from, or don't have a fenced yard. These are MUSTS for a reason. I know his progress and needs.
