At 12 years old, Hank has reached the wonderful stage of life where he knows what matters: a soft bed, a good belly scratch, somebody to love, and—most important—WALKS. Hank absolutely loves going for walks and does beautifully on a leash. Right now his walks are on the shorter side because, well... Hank has a little extra Hank to carry around.
Actually, he has quite a lot of extra Hank.
This very stout beagle currently weighs 46 pounds, and his foster family has already started helping him slim down with sensible meals and daily walks. The good news is that Hank thinks walking is great fun, so his fitness program is something he is quite happy to participate in. As the pounds come off, we expect those walks may get longer and easier.
Hank is wonderfully mellow in the house. He is very submissive, super chill, and has been perfectly polite with the resident cats—mostly just looking at them as if to say, Oh. Cats. Okay. He is learning the household routine from the other dog and settling in nicely. He can manage the three steps into his foster home by himself, although lots of stairs are still difficult at his current weight.
He loves a soft place to sleep. He loves giving kisses. He loves people and older kids. He is not a fan of toddlers who are not nice to him.
Hank may have a gray muzzle and a few miles on the odometer, but look at those eyes. This is not a dog who has checked out of life. He wants to go places. He wants to see what you're doing. And he would very much like to take a walk with you.
If your idea of the perfect companion is a sweet senior who has already figured out how to be a good dog—and who just needs someone to help him become a slightly smaller good dog—Hank may be your guy.
Senior? Absolutely.Finished? Not even close.Current weight? 46 pounds.Goal? Less Hank on the outside, same wonderful Hank on the inside.
Hank is neutered and will be up-to-date with his shots, and microchipped. His heartworm negative and on monthly preventative. His fostered in southeast Nebraska, roughly midway between Kansas City and , and his foster is willing to travel to meet up. His adoption fee is $300
