Petunia is discovering just how wonderful life can be. While she may be a little shy at first, this sweet Beagle is gaining confidence every day and becoming more comfortable with the people around her.
Curious by nature, Petunia likes to explore and is learning that new experiences can be exciting instead of scary. She has been building trust with her caregivers, is doing well walking on a leash, and enjoys spending time in the play yard. She also gets along well with other dogs, and a confident canine companion could help her continue to blossom.
Petunia is from the Ridglan Farms test facility. These Beagles are generally affectionate, resilient, and eager to experience the joys of life beyond the laboratory. At the same time, they have unique needs. Many are naturally skittish and easily frightened, making them significant flight risks. They also possess the curiosity, determination, and remarkable sense of smell that have been bred into Beagles for more than 500 years. Once a Beagle catches an interesting scent, following it is instinct, not disobedience.
Because of this, there are a few extra steps to the adoption process. Veterinary records are reviewed, applicants are asked to complete a questionnaire and watch a Zoom session that includes frank discussions and realistic expectations.
