DESCRIPTION
Hi, I'm Rancher. I'm somewhere between 1 and 3 years old, and I've already been through more than any dog should. I came to the shelter with birdshot in my body, so I can be a little careful when meeting new people. Please don't mistake that for not liking you--I just need time to know I'm safe. Give me a few quiet visits, a little patience and maybe a treat or two, and you'll start seeing the sweet boy behind these cautious eyes. I may not hand over my heart right away, but once I do, you'll know you earned something pretty special.
ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED
The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.
