Dexter - Australian Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Alexandria, Virginia

Meet Dexter!
Dexter is a 6-year-old Male 58 lbs Aussie x Black Lab Neutered Vaccinations up to date
Say hello to Dexter, a handsome black Aussie/Lab mix with a charming white chest marking and a full tail. Dexter is a happy, playful, affectionate boy who loves being with his people and would thrive with an active family ready to give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and companionship.
Dexter is smart, well-mannered, and eager to learn. He already knows sit, stay, and down, and he’s having fun learning to new skills. He is housebroken and crate trained, happily sleeping in his crate at night. He also rides well in the car and is always ready to go.
This energetic guy would love an active lifestyle with someone who enjoys longer walks, running, hiking, games of fetch, or simply spending time outdoors. A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus where Dexter could stretch his legs and enjoy some playtime. Most importantly, he wants to be part of the family—he is an affectionate, loving “Velcro dog” who enjoys staying close to his people.
Dexter has lived with both dogs and cats and would enjoy having a canine companion. He and the resident cat have even discovered that they make quite the team when it comes to finding interesting things on the counter! He enjoys playing and would love a home where he can have a furry friend to keep him company.
On walks, Dexter is polite on leash and enjoys taking in everything happening around him. He may let you know when delivery trucks or interesting people, dogs, or groundhogs are nearby, because he takes his job as neighborhood lookout seriously.
Dexter is looking for someone who will appreciate his playful spirit and give him the active, loving life he deserves. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who wants to be your adventure buddy and your shadow at home, Dexter may be your guy!
