Lewis has already completed training with Dog Training Elite and knows commands like sit, stay, and even "dance" for his food—showing off both his smarts and his playful personality. He loves to play ball, will try to catch rain and snow mid-air, and has a soft spot for his favorite toy: a stuffed hedgehog.
As a high-energy breed, Lewis is the perfect match for an active individual or family. Like many Australian Shepherds, he has natural herding instincts and may try to "herd" by gently nipping when he’s excited or seeking attention. With continued, consistent training, this behavior can be redirected in positive ways.
Lewis will thrive in a home that provides both physical exercise and mental enrichment. He enjoys food puzzles, interactive play, and activities that keep his mind engaged. He was previously crate trained and housebroken but may need a refresher after his time in the shelter.
He does well with other dogs—especially smaller ones—and has been gentle and patient with children ages 9 and up. To ensure the best fit, we recommend bringing all household members, including dogs and children, for a meet-and-greet.
Lewis does have a quirky preference when it comes to rest time—he prefers to sleep on the floor where it’s cool, as he tends to get too warm on beds or blankets. He also prefers small bone-style treats, which makes training even more fun and rewarding.
