Australian Shepherd and Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
LANDON
Australian Shepherd, Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
May 7th
male, small, young
DESCRIPTION
Landon came in with his brother, mom, and possibly dad. He is 19 lbs and 9 months old. He's definitely a small breed mix. Mom looks like a terrier dachshund and dad looks like a mini Aussie mix.
He needs a patient home. He is kennel trained but he seems to be a little skittish in new scenarios. This is common when people allow dogs to have litters and end up keeping puppies without exposing them to a typical routine and interactions. Nothing a little puppy training can't fix.
He is very sweet once he gets settled. He loves to get high-reward treats and will gently take them from your hand. He is also dog-friendly. He is still very young and easily handled if he doesn't quite understand what's being asked of him. His world was just very small and now he is learning about all sorts of new things.
If you're interested in providing a loving home to Landon, please complete our adoption application.

ABOUT: AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED
The Australian Shepherd is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog known for its loyalty and work ethic. Originating in the United States, despite its name, this breed is prized for its agility, trainability, and versatility in various dog sports and activities. Australian Shepherds have a distinctive medium length coat that comes in different colors, often with unique merle patterns. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, these dogs make excellent companions for active families and individuals seeking a devoted and playful four legged friend.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
