Meet Little Girl – She's Waited Her Whole Life for Someone Like You
Some dogs have always known what it feels like to be loved.
Little Girl hasn't.
This precious 2-year-old spayed Basset Hound/Cattle Dog mix weighs 45 pounds and spent her life in a heartbreaking hoarding situation involving 47 dogs, living in filthy outdoor pens where surviving—not thriving—was simply the reality. While other dogs were sleeping on cozy beds, playing with toys, and curling up beside their families, Little Girl only knew dirt, overcrowding, and life behind a fence.
But that's not where her story has to end.
Despite everything she's been through, Little Girl has the gentlest heart. She's a little shy when meeting new people, and who could blame her? Love is something she's only just beginning to discover. But the moment you sit down, speak softly, and offer a few gentle pets, something beautiful happens. She relaxes, her eyes soften, and before long she's quietly following you around, content just to be near someone who makes her feel safe.
She doesn't ask for much.
She dreams of things many dogs take for granted—a soft bed to stretch out on, air conditioning on hot summer days, warmth on chilly nights, a home where she can finally live indoors, and people who greet her with kindness instead of neglect. She deserves to learn what it's like to be a cherished family member instead of simply another forgotten dog in a crowded pen.
Little Girl is wonderfully low energy and would be perfectly happy spending her days lounging beside you, taking leisurely walks, and soaking up all the love she's missed out on. She's great with other dogs, walks nicely on leash, settles well in her kennel, and enjoys the quiet companionship of calm canine friends.
She doesn't need a perfect family.
She just needs someone willing to show her that life can be beautiful.
They were rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. She has tested positive for Heartworm. Treatment will be covered by the rescue at one of our partner vets.

Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
