Maizy - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dog for Adoption in Oro Valley, Arizona

Maizy is an adorable, affectionate, and super playful cattle dog mix who has stolen all of our hearts. She’s bonded with multiple dogs here at our facility and has done wonderfully socializing during her time with us. She can be a little sassy with other dogs and a bit shy with new people at first, but she adjusts quickly and warms right up. Give her a few pets and scratches, and she’ll be your best friend in no time.

Maizy came to Como Animal Works through our shelter bypass program and has been with us for about two years now as a surrender, patiently waiting for her forever family. She loves food and treats, which makes her very easy to train and motivate, and she also loves toys and playing with other dogs. She walks well on a leash and has completed a basic obedience course.

One special note about Maizy: she’s bonded with another dog here named Bruce. If you’re interested in adopting both, that’s something we can absolutely make part of the plan.

• Can be a bit nippy at times when she is scared

When you adopt a dog from Como Animal Works, you are provided free boarding as a courtesy and comfort of the dog being familiar with our facility, and discounted daycare. Restrictions do apply. We also provide free training sessions on-site or at the home while the dog is transitioning to home life. Our goal is to help keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and provide much needed dog socialization during that time.

The Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, is a hardworking and intelligent breed originally developed in Australia for herding cattle. Renowned for their endurance and agility, these medium sized dogs have a striking blue or red speckled coat and alert, curious expression. With a strong herding instinct and boundless energy, they require mental stimulation and physical activity to thrive. Blue Heelers are loyal, protective, and make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide the engagement and exercise they need.
