Kilo - Anatolian Shepherd and German Shepherd Dog Dog for Adoption in Oro Valley, Arizona

Kilo is an absolute love bug and sweetheart through and through. He can be a bit of a scaredy cat at times and will sometimes bark at things he doesn’t quite understand, though he’s good about sniffing things out and figuring out what’s going on. This same caution can show up when meeting new people at home, so a structured, calm introduction works best for him, giving him the time he needs to feel safe.

Kilo tends to do better with women and can be a bit barky toward men, especially larger men, which we suspect may stem from something in his previous home. He came to us through our shelter bypass program as a surrender.

Kilo absolutely loves to play and gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, even those who can be a little much or potentially reactive. He’s very passive and skilled at giving other dogs space or gentle corrections when needed.

This boy is all about affection. He loves scratches, hugs, and kisses, and can be a little demanding about it if you let him. Give him the chance, and he’ll follow you around the house all day long.

A few things his future family should know:

• Has skin allergies and needs medicated or sensitive shampoo only
• Has not been around young children, but did live with an older teenager without issue
• Can bark at men, especially if they approach too quickly
• Can be tested with cats
• Extremely food motivated, and will sometimes bark for his dinner

Kilo does great with toys, loves playing ball and tug, walks well on leash, and knows basic commands like sit, paw, and wait.

When you adopt a dog from Como Animal Works, you are provided free boarding as a courtesy and comfort of the dog being familiar with our facility, and discounted daycare. Restrictions do apply. We also provide free training sessions on-site or at the home while the dog is transitioning to home life. Our goal is to help keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and provide much needed dog socialization during that time.

German Shepherd Dogs are strong, agile, and confident with a distinctive double coat that can be straight or wavy. Their character is marked by courage, loyalty, and a strong work ethic, making them ideal companions and protectors for families and professionals alike.
