Holy heck, this perfectly sweet, silly, little bit derpy boy is all the best parts of “young and fun” without any of the chaos that usually comes with that combo. He makes you do a double take, like… wait, how are you this easy and this entertaining?
Go watch Lamb Chop on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this perfectly balanced, delightfully goofy boy. https://youtu.be/uojiRYKCgJM
Lamb Chop is currently living foster life in a busy, love-filled home with four other dogs ranging from 25 to 65 pounds, ages 2 to 11, and personalities that span from playful to “please respect my space.” He fits in beautifully with all of them. He also lives with cats, a 14-year-old who he adores, and welcomes frequent visitors. His foster says he handles it all perfectly, he just gets it- social, respectful, adaptable and of course…adorable!
Let’s talk about that balance, because it’s really his magic trick. Lamb Chop can play endlessly with his 4-year-old Pyrenees mix buddy (shoutout to Toast Malone), but the second it’s time to come inside, he settles right down. Lamb Chop is calm in the house, quiet in his crate, affectionate and loving, but not a velcro dog. He comes over for love, then will happily wander off to do his own thing. We love a well-adjusted little gentleman. Lamb Chop would love and thrive in a home with another dog and room to run. Kids, cats, and everything in-between are welcome!
And somehow… he skipped the “puppy nonsense” phase entirely. He is fully potty trained (since day one!), has never chewed anything he shouldn’t, and has not one bit of the chaos you would expect from a young dog. The only “crime” on his record? Sock theft. Not destruction… just a gentle, proud little parade around the house with his prize. Honestly, it’s hard to press charges or even call it a crime when it’s that cute.
His foster says he is one of the most well-rounded young dogs they’ve ever had, and it shows in every little detail. He rides great in the car (mostly snoozing), handles crate time well (even if it’s not his favorite), and brings such an easy, joyful presence wherever he goes.
And then… there’s the derp.
The slightly open mouth.
The occasional “teefers” moment when his lips get stuck.
The big ears. The goofy expressions. The comical face he makes when he is feeling a little extra playful. It’s not just cute… it’s basically a magic trick to steal your heart.
His DNA says about 41% Australian Cattle Dog, and you’ll see it in his playful, bouncy style and yes, sometimes he goes for the heels in that classic herding way, but it’s harmless and wrapped up in the softest, silliest, most easygoing package.
If you’re here looking for a dog who can keep up when it’s time to play, settle down when it’s time to relax, and make you laugh daily with his charming little quirks… Lamb Chop is ready and waiting to be your guy!
