Would you look at this beauty!
Meet Jolie, a 20-month-old Anatolian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix weighing approximately 65 pounds. With her stunning looks and sweet personality, it's hard to understand how this girl keeps getting overlooked.
Unfortunately, Jolie's young life has been marked by people giving up on her simply for being what she is—a young, energetic dog. She was surrendered to one animal control facility, adopted, and then shortly afterward surrendered again to another rural shelter, all because she had puppy energy and needed guidance.
Thankfully, those days are behind her, and Jolie is now safe in a foster home where she is thriving.
Jolie loves other dogs and enjoys playing with everyone from puppies to adult dogs. She takes cues well from the older dogs in her foster home and has shown that she can be both playful and respectful. While she enjoys canine companionship, it's clear that being abandoned multiple times has left an impression on her. Jolie is very devoted to her people and can be a bit of a "Velcro dog," likely because she's worried she'll be left behind again. We do know she was raised with children and does great with them.
At heart, Jolie is simply a young dog who needs a family willing to invest in her future. She would benefit from continued guidance on big-dog manners, such as keeping all four paws on the floor instead of jumping up to greet people, and reassurance that her next home will truly be forever.
Jolie appears to be both house trained and crate trained, and she would love an active family that can provide exercise, structure, and plenty of opportunities to be included in daily life.
One important note: while Jolie is part Anatolian Shepherd, she is not a working livestock guardian dog and should not be expected to perform those duties. She's looking for a family companion role where she can be loved, included, and appreciated for the wonderful dog she is.
If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving companion who is ready to put her past behind her and embrace a brighter future, Jolie may be the perfect match
If you are interested in adopting Jolie, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.
**Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **
