TONIC - American Staffordshire Terrier Dog for Adoption in New York, New York

Tonic didn't have a great start in life. He was found as a stray in NYC and brought the New York Animal Care Centers - the Municipal Animal Shelter in NYC.

Entering the crowded shelter didn't help this fearful dog. We know how dogs get at shelters. Their behaviors aren't normal and they are on high alert.

His time was coming to an end due to the overcrowding situation happening in NYC and across the country.

A wonderful woman stepped up to save his life and give him a chance at life.

Tonic would do best in a quieter home with a fully fenced-in yard and a family member who is home most of the day.

Currently living with two larger, senior male dogs, Tonic is taking cues and receiving companionship from them.

He needs would benefit from guidance and training in order to succeed in a home.

Tonic is very sweet and very food-motivated. Notably, Tonic is good at taking treats with a soft mouth so he never accidentally nips a hand.

Tonic is a very curious dog. Tonic notices small animals but doesn't have much of a prey drive. Good with baths, car rides. Easy to get into his crate.

Tonic is a perceptive type, he's still learning who and what is not a threat in his environment. Tonic is protective of his foster but has done well when hes been alone with veterinarians.

He has gotten more comfortable with being crated but is still in the process of being house trained.

With his thoughtful, intense expressions and knowing head tilt, Tonic stands out as a puppy who is eager to learn. Visually, hes a stunner with floppy, spotted ears and long legs. This puppy can be an all-around fun companion who has the ability to bond to his human and animal family members.
