DESCRIPTION

When we say Drax Darling is a total sweetheart, best believe it and he's handsome too! Drax has the most adorable spotted coat, the gentlest personality, and once he decides you're one of his people, he's an absolute cuddle bug who would happily spend the rest of his life tucked beside you on the couch. He's quiet, affectionate, incredibly sweet, and has this soft way about him that makes you want to scoop him up, bring him home, and show him just how good life can be.

Watch his video and you'll fall in love with this sweet spotted boy: https://youtu.be/lChzI3Au_H0?si=OfKGUd5K7ACVbojW

At approximately 2 years old and currently 52 pounds, Drax is our best guess at a Pittie mix, but with animal rescue, it's always a mystery! Whatever breeds came together to create him, they gave him one seriously handsome spotted coat and a personality that's somehow even sweeter than he looks.

Drax is currently fostered in an apartment with a family that includes kids ranging from just 9 months old to 8 years old, and this is where you really get to see what a special dog he is. He is incredibly gentle with the baby and absolutely adores the 8-year-old. In fact, if Drax gets to choose which human he wants to hang out with, there's a pretty good chance he's picking her. She's old enough to play with him, which he loves, but you'll just as frequently find the two of them snuggled together on the couch. His foster describes him as absolutely bomb proof with the kids, and he has shown over and over again just how gentle and sweet he can be with his little humans.

Drax can be a little shy and reserved when he's meeting new people or finding himself in an unfamiliar environment. He's the kind of dog who likes to take everything in for a minute and figure things out before fully letting his guard down. Give him a little time, patience, and consistency in the beginning, and you'll start seeing more and more of the affectionate cuddle bug his foster family gets to enjoy every day. Once Drax knows you, he LOVES you.

He's dog friendly too, but he approaches his canine friendships much like everything else in life, slow and easy. He may need a little time to warm up to a new dog, and once he's comfortable, he's generally mellow and relaxed around them. He's not really interested in roughhousing or having another dog body slamming him around the living room all day. If his future family already has a dog, a more relaxed canine companion who is happy to coexist and give Drax his space when he needs it would likely be the best match. Cats, however, are going to be a no for Drax, so he'll need a feline-free home.

One of the best things about Drax is just how easy he is to have around the house. He's crate trained and does great in his crate, and his foster considers him fully potty trained. He's also generally very quiet and hardly ever barks. Despite being 52 pounds, Drax is currently living in an apartment and doing wonderfully. He's easily crated, walked, and entertained, so while we're sure he'd happily enjoy a backyard, he absolutely doesn't need one to thrive.

And entertaining Drax isn't exactly difficult because this boy LOVES his toys, especially anything that squeaks. He occasionally needs a reminder that the baby's toys are not actually part of his personal toy collection, but apparently Drax thinks anything fun lying on the floor is fair game. He loves treats just as much, takes them incredibly gently, and already knows how to sit. He's got all the makings of a dog who will continue learning beautifully with a family willing to spend a little time with him.

Drax isn't asking for a home that's constantly busy or a canine best friend who wants to wrestle from morning until night. What would make him happiest is a home that feels consistent and predictable, where he can settle into a routine, get comfortable at his own pace, and know exactly who his people are. Whether that's an apartment or a house with a backyard doesn't really matter to him.

More than anything, this incredibly sweet boy just needs someone to give him a chance. Give Drax a little patience in the beginning, and you'll be rewarded with the gentle, affectionate, couch-snuggling dog his foster family already knows and loves. He's got the potty training down, he's great in his crate, he's wonderful with kids, he can live with the right dog, and he's already proven that apartment life is no problem.

All Drax is missing now is a family to look at that spotted face and decide he's finally home.

We are willing to test Drax Darling with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
