Meet Tatah (Utah), 3yrs, 50lbs
Motto: Independent yet prone to FOMO
Utah is looking for a family who enjoys a little bit of everything: 50% couch cuddles, 50% long walks and energetic play, and 100% adventure! She's affectionate, great with children, and loves spending time with her people. She's also learned to remain calm & polite around strangers, but at the end of the day- wants to just hang where she feels most safe!
Hollywood Doppelgänger: Stitch from “Lilo & Stitch” - Utah has Stitch's independent streak, stubborn determination, and love for her people. She doesn't need to be the center of attention, but she definitely wants an invitation!
The Work Behind the Wag
Primary Training Objective: Dog Reactivity
Rehabilitation Progress: Utah entered our program with a history of dog reactivity and has made significant progress. She can now comfortably coexist with another dog in the home, participate in play around other dogs, and respond well with neutral dogs. (Peep her progress in bonding with her foster sibling in the video!!)
Skills Mastered: Leash manners, crate training in-home and in-car, and calm coexistence with other dogs. Off leash obedience and recall. On-leash public outings and public transportation neutrality.
Continued Focus: Maintaining social neutrality, respecting boundaries, and reinforcing training in new environments.
The Perfect Next Chapter
Ideal Lifestyle: Active individuals or families who enjoy including their dog in daily activities, walks, outings, and adventures. If another dog is in the home? A slow introduction that doesn’t put pressure on Utah to advocate for herself will increase her chance of bonding with the dog down the road.
Home Environment: Consistent structure, regular engagement and supervision, and appropriate use of crate training and training tools. She loves a couch cuddle so a “no-dogs-on-sofas” household could be a possible fit but she would be very sad for the acclimation period, LOL! Apartment living is very possible for Utah.
Best Match: A single/one-dog household with a confident, consistent handler who values ongoing training. Utah is comfortable resting at home while you are at work, and apartment living is very possible for her!
