Meet Scarlet — a little chunky girl with a BIG heart who just wants a family to call her own.

Sometimes the hardest part of rescue isn't saving a dog from a shelter. It's finding the right person who will love them for the rest of their life. And that's exactly what we're hoping to do for sweet Scarlet.

Scarlet is an adorable, approximately 3-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix with a whole lot of personality packed into her little 27-pound body!

Her story started in 2024 when she was found as a stray. She went through the Puppies for Parole program, where she learned some wonderful manners and basic commands. She was eventually adopted as a gift for someone, but life didn't quite work out the way anyone planned. She ended up with family members who have been kind to her and love her, but aren't looking for the lifelong commitment of owning a dog.

Scarlet hasn't done anything wrong. She just deserves to be someone's first choice, not an unexpected responsibility.

I've personally spent time with this girl, and I can tell you she is going to make someone an absolutely wonderful companion!

A little about Scarlet:

Around 3 years old and 27 pounds (with a few pounds to lose!)

Spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and current on flea/tick prevention

Potty trained AND kennel trained

Dog friendly and kid friendly

Has ignored outdoor cats, so we believe she may be cat friendly too

Knows basic commands and LOVES treats

Lets you know when she wants to go outside AND when she's ready to come back in

Knows her boundaries with her electronic boundary collar, which will go with her to her new home

Now let's talk about Scarlet's true love in life... TENNIS BALLS!

This girl could play fetch until your arm falls off, and then she'd probably bring the ball back one more time just to make sure you're really done. She's even figured out how to bounce her ball off the door so she can play fetch with HERSELF.

But once she's finally worn herself out, she's more than happy to curl up right next to you for a well-earned snooze.

Scarlet isn't perfect, and that's okay! She's energetic, gets excited and jumps sometimes, and could use continued leash training. She also struggles with car rides, sometimes getting sick or having accidents. She'll need someone patient and willing to work with her on those things.

But what she offers in return is so much more.

She offers loyalty, laughter, companionship, and the kind of love that only a dog can give.

Scarlet doesn't need a perfect home. She needs someone who WANTS her. Someone who will throw that ball a hundred times, help her become the best version of herself, and never make her wonder where she belongs again.
