Meet Diablo!

Diablo has spent over a year waiting for someone to see past his name and into his heart. He was dumped at a sanctuary by a South Carolina couple who claimed he was just a stray, though the truth of his past may never be fully known. When he first arrived, he was difficult and honestly, more than a little scary. No one really knew what to make of him.

But Diablo has come so far.

This approximately 3-year-old Malamute mix has slowly transformed into a loving, playful boy who knows some commands and genuinely enjoys the company of other dogs, though he tends to prefer people most of all. He's incredibly vocal, with a high-pitched Chewbacca impersonation that never fails to make everyone around him laugh.

Diablo is heartworm positive and currently on the slow kill treatment method. He's house-trained to a doggie door and recently graduated from his slow-feed bowl, a milestone that took real patience and trust to reach. Being a big boy with a big personality, he's always on the hunt for anything that smells like food, so he'd do best in a home without small children, simply to keep everyone safe during mealtime.

After more than a year of waiting, of being misunderstood, and of slowly learning to trust again, Diablo is finally ready for the one thing he's never had: a family of his very own.
