Meet Zoey!

This girl is true to her breed, the American Akita, through and through. With Zoey, there are no free passes and no instant friendship. You can't win her over with belly rubs, and in the beginning, she'll need you to respect her space.

She's not food-motivated, but consistency goes a long way with this girl. Feeding her, watering her, and taking her on daily walks will steadily earn you a place in her heart, one she doesn't give away easily.

Zoey was purchased, along with Zeke, by backyard breeders, but she wanted nothing to do with their plans. Because of that, the pair were dumped at a North Carolina kill shelter.

We believe in Zoey. We believe she has it in her to be a wonderful, loving, and protective companion for the right person, but that person must be experienced with the breed. Zoey will be fully vetted before leaving our rescue, and will be personally delivered to make sure her first introduction to her new family goes smoothly.

Adoption fee: $550. Includes transport to the Midwest, Northeast, or Southeast.
