Meet Hawkeye Oiseau, a 6 and 1/2-month-old (5/6) Airedale/Heeler mix, who weighs 20 pounds (as of 3/2/26). He and his siblings are from the OISEAU litter ("Oiseau" means "bird" in French.) These fancy pups were born in Tennessee from a stray mom and we suspect they're also a mix of Australian Shepherd/Beauceron/Black and Tan Coonhound and plenty other things!
Hawkeye is a beautiful young boy who is hesitant to accept love from new people. He is just needs a little more time to feel safe. He can be skittish when meeting new people and usually takes about a week to settle in, but once he starts to trust, you can see his sweet personality begin to shine.
He already knows how to walk nicely on a leash and does very well in a crate. Hawkeye has even taken field trips to stores and is slowly becoming more confident with the world around him every day. He does great with other dogs and often looks to them for reassurance and guidance.
Hawkeye is a little bit of a project — but the very best kind. He’s still just a puppy, and with patience, consistency, and love, he will continue to blossom into an incredibly loyal companion. More than anything, he needs a home where he can finally relax and realize he’s safe, wanted, and not going to be bounced around again.
This sweet boy is absolutely worth the extra time it takes to earn his trust. Watching him learn to love and feel secure is something truly special.
If Hawkeye speaks to your heart, maybe you’re the person he’s been waiting for — someone who will give him the chance to settle in, feel safe, and slowly fall in love with you.
