Gibby
Tuxedo
Estimated 6-8 yrs old
Fostered by Colleen

Meet Gibby!

This sweet girl has a wonderfully quirky personality. She is friendly, playful, loves belly rubs, nose boops, and making biscuits. Gibby loves to show off her "old lady" meows when playing with toys or greeting you in the morning. She's a master at chasing her tail and stalking wand toys. Gibby is independent and loves curling up in a cozy spot for a nap. She is coming out of her shell every day, and has even started snuggling on the couch! She is good with cat-savvy kids, dogs, and other cats; she is currently obsessed with her chihuahua mix foster brother!

History:
Gibby was found outside of an auto parts store, dirty, emaciated and covered in lice, but instantly lovable. Even in her terrible condition, she was still seeking out affection from anyone who passed by her. She was rescued by volunteers with This is the Dog! and brought to a foster home where she started her journey back to health. She was successfully treated for the lice, gained weight, was spayed and got her vaccinations.

Health:
During Gibby's initial vet visit, she was found to be heartworm positive. Heartworms in cats are very rare and quite different than in dogs. Because cats aren't natural hosts, there is no specific treatment and the worms will eventually die off on their own. Check out this link to learn more: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/heartworms-in-cats. Currently, Gibby is showing zero negative symptoms, but might require an extra checkup every 6-12 months until they pass.

If you have space in your home and heart for the most deserving kitty, we know she will bring you endless joy, laughs and love in return!
