OBSESSED WITH 'BUM-BONGOS'

DOB 4/1/25

Hey there, everyone! I’m Mars, an exquisitely beautiful, golden-eyed “harlequin” gal, which means that I’m mostly snowy white with large patches of black on my sides. Foster Meowmy calls me “the best cuddle bug” who is obsessed with “bum bongos.” In case you don’t know, that means I like for her to pretend that she’s playing the bongos on my back near my tail. Boy howdy! Does that feel good, even though it’s admittedly quirky. We have this little ritual every morning -- when she sits down on the sofa with her coffee, I come running from my favorite napping hidey-hole under a cushion on the other end of the sofa – to greet her and to ask her for “bum bongos” as well as a few chin, ear, or cheek scratches.

When I was about eight weeks old, my feral momma brought me with her to Foster Meowmy’s front-porch community-cat feeding station. Foster Meowmy gradually worked on socializing me for about two weeks, and I progressed from running away when the door opened, to trusting her as a food source, to allowing her to scratch my sweet spots. To my surprise, one day she grabbed me when I wasn’t looking and brought me inside. She soothed my lonely cries for my momma by wrapping me in a “purrito” and cuddling me to her chest all day and night. That was the moment of my conversion to be her best cuddle bug, then and there! Within a few days, I ventured out from under her bed blankets and explored her bedroom.

Then about a week later, Foster Meowmy introduced Neptune to me. He was another solo kitten -- almost my same age -- whom my feral momma had again brought to Foster Meowmy’s front porch for meals. Unlike gradually socializing him for two weeks like she did me, after two days Foster Meowmy had grabbed him and brought him inside. Neptune and I became fast friends, playmates, and cuddle buddies – as if we’d always known each other. Since he was so skittish of hoomans, I became his emotional-support sister and eventually convinced him that he could be comfortable with Foster Meowmy’s affectionate scratches.

When I need my space away from Neptune, I enjoy playing with and chewing on feathered wand toys. I love watching “kitty TV” from the window perch, where I become fixated on any wildlife that crawls, flies, or scampers by. I’m still getting adjusted to the plethora of resident and foster cats. I’m relatively timid, so if one hisses, I hiss back. If one is neutral to me, I’m neutral back. I get my “psychic distance” from them by observing them from the top of the cat tree or a tall cabinet, and I’ve made “nose-to-nose” friends with one other kitty beside Neptune.

Now I’m ready to grace my forever family with my stunning good looks and finesse as a cuddle queen. Could that be you? Foster Meowmy thinks I’d do best with an experienced adopter who understands my unique temperament. I can still be skittish and run away if someone makes a quick movement or approaches me too quickly. I guess you could say that I’m like a butterfly who flies away if you try to net her but alights on your shoulder when she feels safe and comfy. In case you’re in the market for a pair of young cats, Neptune and I think it would be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted together, although we're available separately. Two is more fun anyway! Arrange to meet me today! I promise to mesmerize you with my gorgeous copper-penny eyes.
