George - Tabby and Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Newark, New Jersey

Meet George! We LOVE this big guy, and we hope someone adopts him soon because we can’t think of a more deserving cat!

George was fed by the same person for the last 7yrs, so we think he’s around 8-9yrs old now. They tried for 7yrs to get him off the streets, as they felt bad for him being out there. Recently, they had found a shelter to take him. The shelter then called and said George was “unadoptable” because he would swat and nip at people. He was going to be euthanized. His feeder took him back, and begged for help, because her neighbor threatened to “dispose of” George, so George wasn’t safe living outside + he really wanted to be an indoor kitty!

We have had NO issues with George here!!! He likely was stressed being in a cage at a shelter. George is not only a unique and handsome cat, but a gentle giant. We’ve recently been inundated with kittens, and George acts like their doting grandpa. He sits next to their playpens and watches over them all day. He gets along with every cat here, and has been sweet and affectionate with us humans as well. You would never know George spent his life on the streets. He’s amazing.
