Meet Truffle
Truffle is a 1.5-year-old Russian Blue mix boy who may weigh 14 pounds, but is still very much a baby at heart. He’s not chubby — just long, muscular, and wonderfully big. And yet, this gentle giant has the soul, manners, and sweetest little meow of a kitten.
Truffle’s journey to becoming a house cat was long and difficult. One day, desperately hungry, he showed up in someone’s yard asking for food. He was suffering from a severe, neglected case of mange that had left his skin in terrible condition. Frightened by his appearance, the person who found him reached out to our rescue team, asking us to take him in before he was taken to be euthanized. And that’s how Truffle’s second chance began.
He endured a long course of treatment and countless baths with remarkable patience. Never once did he respond with aggression. Even when he was scared or uncomfortable, he remained gentle and trusting. He showed us just how brave a little soul can be, even after life has been unkind to him.
Truffle is a professional cuddler. He absolutely adores being petted and could happily soak up affection for hours. He turns into the sweetest little shrimp, rolling onto his back in pure bliss. He’s the perfect couch companion, always ready to curl up beside his favorite human for a cozy evening of cuddles and TV.
Today, Truffle is the sweetheart of a busy foster home filled with other cats. He is kind to everyone, and there’s something especially lovely about the way other cats gravitate toward him. They come to curl up beside him, snuggle against his big, warm body, and enjoy his peaceful company. Truffle has a gift for making others feel safe and loved.
Truffle is such a gentle and sensitive soul. We’re really hoping to find him a lovely home where his sweet, tender nature will be understood and cherished, and where he can continue to blossom at his own pace.
Truffle is FIV-positive, but please don’t let that diagnosis scare you away from this amazing boy. FIV does not mean Truffle is sick. He is healthy, happy, and enjoying life just like any other cat. He does not take meds. Many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy lives, sometimes for many years without developing ANY FIV-related illness. (source: Cornell Vet School). FIV is only spread through deep bite wounds, not through simply cuddling, grooming, or sharing a home peacefully. This means friendly, non-aggressive cats like Truffle can live very happily with other cats, particularly in a stable indoor home.
Please give Truffle the chance to meet you. We promise... he’ll do the rest!
