SPECIFICS

Purebred Persian, Shaded Silver, green eyes, 8 years-old, spayed female, 5 lbs., with claws.



Cat friendly: **ideally adopted with her younger sister Rachel(already listed), likes sweet easy going cats of a similar personality 



Dog friendly: possibly with a *small* dog that would ignore her and appropriate introductions



Kid friendly: 13 yrs+, cat savvy and respectful

GETTING TO KNOW ME

Melody aka Mellie, fancies herself a bit of a Princess and has a chill, self confident and whimsical personality. She is currently growing out of her spring lion-cut and looks like a marshmallow / teddy bear. Her coat is a lovely white with silver frosting and set off by green eyes. She is a Persian, so eye and coat care is mandatory. Melody is an explorer and likes to see everything the world has to offer, and will seek out human affection when she wants it, but the tiny royalty will ignore you if you aren't respectful of her wishes. She'd likely be great in a backpack, stroller, or maybe a mini harness with a leash. You'll always need to keep her safety in mind with her very small size.

We are looking for a cat experienced home that is calm, likes to groom her poofy coat and ready to bend to her every whim. A family that enjoys spending time at home would be Melody’s wish. She’s self confident and easy-going and fine with being carried around. Once acclimated and when she’s done exploring, she’ll join you on the couch as you listen to music, watch movies or scroll on your phone. Melody is small and quiet and she can get under foot when you walk.

Melody nurtures and snuggles her younger sister Rachel who is also available and she is good with other cats that match her personality. She would not thrive as an only cat. A large, active dog would be too much but a small, calm, older dog that ignored her might be okay. A teen 13+ would be okay too.

She can hardly wait for a family to call her own.




TRANSITION TIPS


Melody will absolutely need to start out in a "base camp" room in her new home, while she becomes familiar and comfortable with her new people and other pets, and she will let you know when she's ready to explore more of the home. Please research bringing home a new cat & proper cat introductions. YouTube has many great Jackson Galaxy videos to help with introductions.






CARE REQUIREMENTS


*Feeding & water: 4Health Pate. She enjoys a ceramic water fountain which keeps her fluffy chin clean.

*Litter: Open-style box with unscented PetSmart unscented, clumping Grass Seed Litter (one box per cat, plus one extra).

*Grooming: Daily eye maintenance with Eye Envy and combing once a week (5 min a day might be best) and a monthly nail trim. *She is currently growing out from a lion-cut.



VETTING PROVIDED

Exam, spayed, tested negative for FELV/FIV & heartworm, FVRCP and rabies vaccinated, stenotic Nares surgery(to optimize breathing)and is microchipped. Medical Records are supplied at adoption completion.




LOCATION AND ADOPTION

Fostered in Valparaiso, Indiana (45 min from Chicago and SW Michigan, 2 hours from Wisconsin, Iowa & Ohio).

Adopters must travel to the foster home or nearest airport to the foster home (at the discretion of the foster parent). Pickup must be within two weeks of approved adoption. When meeting at an airport, a $50 donation to cover gas, tolls, and parking will be required.
