**Meet Sapphire**
Sapphire is a beautiful and unique orange tabby girl with gorgeous markings and a personality to match! Female orange tabbies are less common than male orange tabbies because the gene responsible for orange coloring is carried on the X chromosome. A female cat needs to inherit the orange gene from **both parents** to be orange, while a male only needs to inherit it from his mother. That's what makes sweet Sapphire such a special girl!
Sapphire is part of a litter of six kittens who were found hiding under a barbecue grill cover. When they were first discovered, they were frightened and had very little experience with people. They would scurry away whenever anyone approached because they had never been held or petted before.
With time, patience, and lots of love from their foster family, these six kittens have completely blossomed. They now love the safety of indoor life, human attention, cuddles, and all the fun that comes with being kittens! And one thing they all have in common is their **amazing, loud purrs**.
Sapphire is an absolute sweetheart. She has a wonderfully loud purr and will happily lie nearby and purr away simply because you're in the room. She doesn't need much convincing to be happy—being close to her people is enough. When she's not busy purring, Sapphire is ready to play! She loves chasing, wrestling, and playing with all of her siblings.
Her foster mom believes Sapphire has an especially close relationship with her sister **Opal**, who looks almost identical to Sapphire. The easiest way to tell them apart is that Opal has an adorable little curl at the end of her tail! The sisters love playing together and are often found having fun with the rest of their siblings before settling into a cozy kitten cuddle pile for naptime.
Sapphire is **available for pre-adoption** and would love to find a forever home where she can continue to have feline companionship. She would be especially happy to be adopted with one of her siblings, giving her a built-in playmate and cuddle buddy as she grows up.
