SILCO

Domestic Short Hair
🇺🇸
West Mifflin, Pennsylvania
May 15th
male, small, baby

DESCRIPTION

Silco is the kind of cat that makes people stop mid-sentence and go, “Wait... who is that?”

Maybe it's the giant eyes. Maybe it's the ridiculously cute face. Maybe it's the fact that he somehow went from hardened runaway street cat to clingy little mama's boy in record time. Whatever it is, this boy has IT.

But guess what? He almost wasn't here.

Silco came from the outside world with one very clear personal policy: humans are suspicious and feelings are embarrassing. We knew him from afar and respected his tough guy routine... until one day Maggie noticed something was wrong. Really wrong. She didn't really know how to explain it, but he was off.

So. He was wrangled, furious about it, and immediately committed himself to the role of feral criminal. There were angry noises. There was one very unfortunate bite incident involving Sara. There was a medical cage. And then came the diagnosis that changed everything: F...I...f***in...P

FIP. That was the 4th diagnosis in just ONE month.

Suddenly this cat who never wanted anyone involved in his life had an entire team fighting for him. Medications were started for both him and his sister Jinx, and thus they began the long 84-day treatment journey. Maggie had Pippin at home already fighting the same fight, obviously she had to take Silco and his sister too (sucker).

Now here's the funny part: for a cat so committed to pretending he hated people, it took him approximately two weeks in a home to completely expose himself as an absolute marshmallow. Silco is OBSESSED with affection. He flops over dramatically for pets. He baps foster mom on the head if she dares give attention to someone else. He stares at you with those giant eyes like you personally hung the moon. He went from “don't perceive me” to “if you stop petting me I may actually perish.”

And he is SO cute. Like unfairly, ridiculously cute.

Silco isn't just a success story. He's the cat that reminds you why people do rescue in the first place. Underneath all the fear was a loving, goofy, deeply affectionate little guy who just needed someone stubborn enough to believe he was worth saving.

Now he's healthy. He's thriving. He's ready for a home. Whoever adopts him is going to wonder how they ever lived without him.
