Let's just say... first impressions aren't everything. Griselda arrived at our rescue with an actual police escort. You read that correctly. Full on arrived like she was the main character in an episode of Cops. To say she was upset would be the understatement of the century. She wasn't just scared. We don't know what happened before Griselda found her way to us. But what we do know is that whatever she'd been through taught her that the only way to survive was to fight, and we didn't want that for her anymore.



So we didn't fight back, we just made her a promise she didn't even know we were making. We'd wait. We'd let her decide. We'd prove, every single day, that she was safe. We gave her space. We gave her patience. We let her learn, one day at a time, that not every hand reaching toward her was going to hurt her.



And then... one day... the banshee disappeared. In her place was the beautiful Griselda here today. A completely different cat. A sweet girl who leans into pets. A cat who wants attention. A soul who finally discovered that survival and living aren't the same thing. Griselda is still a little cautious around other cats and may offer a polite hiss or tiny growl to let them know she'd appreciate some personal space. Honestly? After whatever it is that she's been through, she's earned the right to have those boundaries.



The frightened little warrior who arrived at our door has finally retired. Griselda doesn't need someone to "fix" her. She is perfect just the way she is now that she knows she is loved and cared for. She just needs someone who will keep the promise we made to her: that she'll never have to wonder if she's safe again. We think she's waited long enough for that promise to become permanent, with a family she calls her own.
