Hi!
I'm Willa. I came into foster care as a stray who must have been, at one time, someone's pet because I am so friendly. I am about 1-2 years old with a tabby/calico coat.
My foster mom thinks I likely had a hard life while outside. I can sometimes be territorial and growl with food, but I am never aggressive. I'm a really good girl. This like stemmed from the necessity to be defensive or not getting to eat at all as a stray. It was very lucky for me to have been rescued because I not only had a deadly uterine infection (now cured with surgery and antibiotics) but was also found to be Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) positive on testing. This virus means I may not have a very long life, but I can still live a really great and full one with the right person/family/care. This virus weakens my immune system. It is also transmissible to other cats (not dogs or humans) which is why I must be the only cat in my forever home. Likely because of my time outside, I don't really like other cats anyway. I have not been around dogs so it is unknown how I would do with them.
I do LOVE humans though! I love being petted, brushed, and scratched. I purr so much when given attention. I also really like food, my foster mom gives me a lot of wet food which I really enjoy. I am learning that food is readily available to me and not something I have to struggle to get anymore. I am a very nice and loving cat who would make a wonderful pet despite my rough road in life so far.
I would really like to be given the chance at a better life. If you have FeLV + cat experience, or you'd be willing to learn. Please consider coming to meet me to see if we would be a good fit.
Apply online at cnycatcoalition.org/adoption-application (say you saw the cat on Petfinder)
Because of Willa's FELV + status the typical fee of $120 will be WAIVED. She will still come with all of the standard veterinary treatments having been completed, such as spay/neuter, rabies and distemper vaccines, testing, microchipping, deworming, and flea and ear mite treatments.
Including a free lifetime microchip registration!
