Rocky (aka Kane) - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Skokie, Illinois

They used to call me Kane, but these days, I'm Rocky-and boy, have I lived up to that name. I've been through some rocky times, but I'm still here, still handsome, and still hoping my person is out there.
I first came to CARE in 2019 after my owner passed away. I was adopted again that August and got to share my home with a companion kitty named Louie. Sadly, Louie eventually passed away, and now I've found myself back at CARE once again. I was surrendered because my owner was dealing with poor health.
So you could say I've had a few more plot twists than I was hoping for.
I'll admit, I'm feeling a little grumpy about being back. I mean, if you had to leave your home and start over again, you might need a minute too. I was also front-paw declawed before coming to the shelter, so I'm looking for someone who understands that I've been through a lot and will let me take things at my own pace.
But I'm already making progress. I'm coming out of my carrier for head bumps, pets, and some VERY HARD BOOPS. I'm a handsome black cat with plenty of personality, and once I decide you're okay, you might just find yourself with a new best friend.
Someone patient. Someone kind. Someone who will stick around.
