Hi, I'm Lionel! I was named after a famous footballer, so I'm hoping my own World Cup journey ends with a championship home.

I'm a 1-year-old boy who came from a TNR partner after originally being surrendered to Chicago Animal Care and Control. I've been taking things one day at a time. I'm a shy guy at first, but I'm getting braver every day.

My favorite thing? Mini Mouse toys! They bring out my playful side and are a great way to get to know me.

I'm still learning that people can be trusted. I'll allow some pets, and I've even surprised my friends with a little headbutt for affection. The secret to my heart is patience: move slowly, come in from the side, and let me approach you. I do best when I'm allowed to set the pace.

I may not be the boldest player on the field right away, but give me some time and encouragement, and you'll see me come out of my shell.

I'm looking for a patient adopter who understands shy cats and will give me the time I need to feel safe and confident. If you're willing to let me warm up at my own speed, I just might become your favorite teammate.
