Say hello to Penny, the most gorgeous tabby cat ever to walk the allies of Baltimore! She is a playful, curious cat with a passion for receiving cheek scratches and neck rubs. Though she is still new to domestic life, she is very eager to love and be loved!
Penny's favorite pastime is playing with little fuzzy mouse toys. She magically appears out of nowhere, glowing with anticipation, when she hears a mouse toy rattling!
Penny is a bit skittish, still learning the ropes of living with people and all of our noisy machines, etc. Because she loves people and being petted, she is getting bolder every day; she has started shyly asking to sit next to people on the couch, and seems "lap-curious."
Since she grew up in a colony, Penny is good with other cats. She made friends with a few of her kitty house mates and enjoys giving and receiving baths. Unfortunately, two other housemates have made a game out of bullying her so she has relegated herself to a few hiding spots and is very cautious when wandering the house.
Penny would love a chance to blossom as a pet cat. She is looking for a home that will help her adapt at her own pace (and that is unlikely to take very long). She shows so much sweetness and affection already, she is certain to be a wonderful addition to any loving household.
PENNY'S BACKSTORY: In April, Penny was only about 9 months old, heavily pregnant, and living on the street. A cat rescue volunteer brought her inside, where she was a wonderful mother to her 6 kittens. After they were adopted, Penny spent several months in foster care building up strength after her pregnancy and nursing; she was also spayed and overcame months of intestinal inflammation after she was dewormed.
